Last year, I met this amazing group of women that I am now lucky to call my girlfriends. The friendship that I share with them is the healthiest, happiest, and most loyal relationship I have ever had. I talk more about how you can create and maintain valuable friendships in my girlfriends post. Like me, my girlfriends work extremely hard and rarely take time for themselves. Well, we finally decided to take a “staycation” together in our own city. Indianapolis is a wonderful, up-and-coming place, but many Hoosiers (Indiana natives) will tell you there’s nothing to do here. We decided to challenge that idea by taking a mini-vacation and becoming tourists in our own City.

The first and most important part of our staycation was finding the right hotel. One of my girls stumbled upon the Indianapolis Marriott North Hotel, located near the Keystone Crossing Fashion Mall. Let me just say, the Marriott was the perfect choice; it made us feel like we were far away from our troubles and close to home all at once. The decor, the views, and the overall location of the Hotel made our staycation incredible from the time we parked in the lot to the moment we (sadly) checked out! Whether you’re visiting the City or you’re from Indy and need a getaway, the Marriott will leave you relaxed and blissful by the end of your trip.

My Marriott Space Experience

When you first enter the Hotel, you are taken aback by the beautifully decorated lobby. The space is open and welcoming with multi-purpose seating areas and windows that peer out onto a lovely lake. The color scheme is warm with hints of oranges and grays, which are accented by the modern fireplace near one of the seating areas. I loved the different paintings on the walls and the sleek pieces of furniture lining the room. My absolute favorite part, though, was the floor to ceiling windows along the back wall. I spent several hours in the evening and during breakfast the next day enjoying the changes of the sun in the comfortable seats. I almost felt like getting work down because the scene was so peaceful, but I was in strict vacation-mode! Instead of working, I enjoyed several cups of the free apple cider the hotel serves its guest (y’all know I love free food)!

My Marriott Food Experience

What really makes a vacation a true vacation for a foodie like me? You guessed it! The Marriott provides this beautiful breakfast platter, served right to your door, with everything a foodie could want on her plate. From the fresh-squeezed orange juice to the turkey sausages, I was so full that I just wanted to snuggle back into my bed after breakfast. The beautiful thing is, I never had to leave it! When I originally ordered the platter, I was planning to share with my girlfriends but…plans change!

My Marriott Room Experience

Walking into the room was an awesome experience. All you could hear between me and my girls was “ooo’s” and “aaa’s.” We were completely shocked by the gorgeous simplicity of the room decor. The beds and the pillows swallow you whole, and you feel like you’re sleeping on a marshmellow. The Hotel had these soft bathrobes waiting for us, as if they knew we needed a getaway. I got comfortable real quick, especially when I found my little nook by the window. The view was even more breathtaking than the one in the lobby. I could see my City from a whole new perspective.

With four girls on one trip, usually sharing the bathroom is a huge pain. However, the mirror in our room was large enough for all of us to do our makeup and squeeze in for selfies. And check out the light on the mirror: can we say picture perfect? My favorite part of the bathroom, though, was the shower, which was so soothing. It felt like a soft rainfall, and you didn’t have to worry about getting water all over the place because the glass covered from floor to ceiling. We couldn’t get over how luxurious the entire room was.

My Marriott Stay

Overall, the Marriott North Hotel made our Indianapolis staycation a success. It was great to get away from all the humdrum of everyday life and enjoy some tranquility with my girlfriends. We could have stayed anywhere else in town, but the Marriott gave us everything we were looking for, and things we didn’t even think we could find. The Hotel itself is stunning, with its lake outlook and elegant design. Its location was perfect in terms of peacefulness, but also because of its proximity to great activities. The area is near the Keystone Crossing Fashion Mall, several great restaurants (including Seasons 52 where we had our lovely girlfriends dinner), a number of shopping plazas, and most conveniently, the highway. Months later, my girlfriends and I still talk about this Hotel. As we prepare for our next staycation, we would happily visit the Indianapolis Marriott North again for a  getaway!
