Spring Cleaning

Out with the winter and in with the warm! I always get tricked by the first signs of warm weather that the winter is gone forever. But that’s because I cannot wait for Springtime! Aside from my overall mood being better, I always look forward to the Spring cleaning; I go through my house and clear out everything! I go from the kitchen to the bathrooms and the girls’ rooms and finally, my closet. This year is no different, and I think it’s even more important than usual. It’s my Spring wardrobe refresh and there are a few signs to know if you’re in need of one too! Ask yourself a few questions: 1. Is it hard to find clothes to wear? 2. Does your closet feel like it no longer fits your lifestyle? 3. Are you no longer feeling confident in your clothes? If you answered yes to any of these questions, it’s probably time for a wardrobe refresh! Here are some tips to keep in mind.

Go Through Your Closet

I’m very “Marie Kondo” when the seasons change – I like to get rid of things that don’t bring me joy so that I can make room for the stuff I actually use. You’ll be surprised what you find in your closet when you just clear out the clutter. So before you run shopping for new stuff, go through yours and see what you can bring back to life. Some pieces may have come back in style since you last looked at them or they may fit you better now than they did before. And if you’re anything like me, you might find stuff in your closet that you haven’t even worn or have barely been worn and need new life! Check out my Fall transition blog post for tips on how to do that.

Dress for Your Life

Life moves so fast that sometimes we don’t realize how much our lives are changing. Consider where you were just last year. Are you still in the same place? You might have had a baby; you might have a new job; or you might just be returning to the office after two years of working from home. Whatever your change is, you’re probably in a different place than you were in 2021 and that can have an impact on what you need in your closet. Keep that in mind as you start organizing your closet and shopping for new clothes.

Dress for Your Body (Changes)

The seasonal transitions from winter and into summer can bring self esteem issues. I know I personally struggle with this when I feel like I didn’t reach my weight goal or when I notice my body looks different in my clothes. Be kind to yourself! Don’t feel like you have to look a certain way. Weight gain and weight loss are a normal part of life and there are many reasons why your body might be changing (such as a pandemic that changed the world?!). So do your best to love your body as it is. When you do that, you can start dressing your body as it is! Find pieces that make you feel good in your skin.

Good Places to Shop (Online Too)

Here are some of my personal favorite places to shop. I love these especially because I have good luck shopping them online too, which can often be a challenge. The one hack to online shopping that I would recommend is to pay attention to the sizing charts offered on the websites. Different brands and stores size items very differently, which is why you might find that a pair of jeans from one store don’t fit like the ones from another store even though they’re the same size.

Love Your Spring Wardrobe

Like I said, Spring is a great time to refresh your wardrobe. The change in season and the “Spring cleaning” that comes with this time makes it ideal for going through your closet, finding inspiration, and making positive changes. Your life shouldn’t revolve around what you wear, but it does have an impact on your life. So embrace the changes in your life and your body along with the change in season and refresh your wardrobe!
