Important Lessons I’ve Learned
- Pray, no matter what you believe, just pray.
- Take care of your parents.
- Do what you want. Don’t live your life for others, and make no apologies for your own happiness.
- Not everyone will like you and that’s okay!
- Surround yourself with good people and positive energy.
- Be kind. Simple as it sounds. Just be kind to everyone you encounter.
- Life doesn’t care about your plans. It’s okay to plan, but try not to feel defeated when life says “nah!”
- Learn to say NO. Know your physical and emotional limits. Advocate for yourself.
- Good credit is important. Good credit is important. No one tells you, but good credit is important!
- Don’t compare yourself to others.
- Work smarter, not harder.
- Failure is okay. The 4 failed businesses under my belt taught me the skills that lead me to my successful ones.
- Learn to use money wisely. Get a financial coach if you have to. Build for tomorrow, build for your retirement, and build for the generations coming after you.
- Read! Learn as much as you can.
- Don’t take everything personal. Seek and accept constructive criticism.
- In Friendships, be the kind of friend you want to befriend. Be authentic and expect authenticity. Someone who will talk about others to your face will talk about you behind your back.
- Travel, Travel, Travel as much as you can. And when you think you can’t, ask yourself why. Try to remove those obstacles.
- “When upset, don’t forget” – leave space for rationality.
- Keep your business to yourself; everyone is not happy for you.
- Take time self-care. Your wellbeing and sanity depend on it (and don’t feel bad about it when you do).
- Surround yourself with love! Find a small group of friends and create a support system.
- The time to go after your dreams is NOW (This blog has been a dream of mine for years, but I just finally started it this year).
- Follow up to 22: Stop worrying! Everything that is meant to be will be! Don’t dwell on what you didn’t get or when you will get something.
- Life is short! Love yourself. Don’t cry on your birthday. Appreciate the people in your life, and don’t let anger lead you to regret.
